Musing Mondays and other stuff.

Well, again I skipped a week.  I just keep slacking! Well before I forget again, I'll do Musing Monday's right now and get to the other stuff later cause it's not as important.

I had to use this picture again. It's so pretty!

Today's musing asks:

How far along are you in your current read before you start thinking about what you'll read next?

It depends on how good the book is. If it's really good, and it has more books in the series, I'm going to wonder when I can read the next one. But if it's a stand alone novel and I kinda like it, at about the end I start to think about what's next. Usually I don't worry about it too much until later or when I finish the book.

Now! Time for the other stuff.
I recently re-read the whole Julia Grey series by Deanna Raybourn again because I was bored. ( I don't know if I told you about this or not.)
I just got done with "The Dark Enquiry" last night. The problem with these books is their endings. They always leave you hanging! It gets me mad, because she doesn't explain at all what's going to happen in the next book. She gives you hints and that all you get. Now I have to wait for 2013 for the next one because she's currently doing another stand alone novel. So I'll just have to be patient, :(

Now I'm just going to continue to read The Way of The Shadows until I either go back to the library or I find another book to read. Orrrr I could read the giant Sherlock Holmes book I have on my bookshelf right now. ;)

Updates!

Wow, I haven't posted since January 2. That's two weeks...I am a sad excuse of a blogger. But I have been pretty busy lately so I guess I have a reason. :P

Anyway, I got quite a few things to update you on.

First, I finished "The Book of Fires" by Jane Borodale. It was a pretty good book! Kinda dark, and interesting. The writing style was different from what I'm used to but I didn't mind. This book has tons of things about it that I could spoil, so I'm not really gonna go into detail about it. What I can tell you is that it was really good, but don't expect it to be all butterflies and rainbows. There are some happy parts but it is pretty dark. Overall it was pretty good. :)

Second, I got some books from my library that I thought would work out great, but didn't. I tried reading "A Beautiful Blue Death" by Charles Finch but I couldn't get into it. Same with "Maisie Dobbs" by Jacqueline Winspear. I just could not get into it! Maybe they didn't have the action, or adventure I was looking for... or maybe I just didn't care enough about the characters. I didn't have time to figure it out because they were library books, so I had to take them back. Maybe one day, I'll try them again. It wasn't like they were bad books either, but I think I was looking for something and didn't find it in these books.

Third, I'm still reading "The Way Of Shadows" by Brent Weeks. I like it so far, but I haven't really read much of it. It's very much like "Name Of The Wind" except the styles of writing are different. This book is more fast paced, where "Name Of The Wind" is kinda slow. I haven't really read much but that's what I'm getting from this book so far. I have a few problems with the book, but maybe those will go away once I read it more.

Forth, I was talking about books with my Grandma, (she loves reading too) and I told her about Deanna Raybourn's, Lady Julia Grey mysteries. I told her she would like them a lot and what it basically is about. She finished it in a day and came back for the second one. hehe So she likes them, and I have another person in my family on the Lady Julia Grey bandwagon. :D But while we were talking about books, she told me I would like some of Susan Wiggs books. So when she came to get the second book she brought me two of them. The first one is "The Charm School" and the second one is "The Horsemasters Daughter". I read through "The Charm School" in two days and now I'm just about to finish The Horsemasters Daughter". I like them both a lot! Their like Lynn Kurland's books but more romantic.

Anyway, I think that's it for the updates! I'll try and do Musing Monday's tomorrow. Happy reading! <3

Award, Musing Mondays and other stuff.

Okay so I have a few things to blog about today. I would have posted sooner, but I'm just so busy! and there's a lot going on in my brain right now. But enough about me, lets get to blogging! Okay so first I got a new award, thanks to Caressa at Bookish! It's called the Liebster award.

The Liebster award is meant to highlight some of the great blogs with 200 followers or less.

Thank you sooooo much Caressa for awarding this to me! and for keeping up with my irregular posts. ;)
Okay, so here are the rules. Once I get the award I have to:

  • Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
  • Reveal your 5 picks on your blog with links.
  • Let the winners know by leaving a comment on their blog.
  • Post the reward on your blog.
Here are the bloggers I want to give this award to:

1.  I know that she already has the award but I feel the need to give it back to Bookish. Thank you for keeping up with my posts! I really appreciate it. :)
2. thebookgatherer I love reviews that are short, sweet, and to the point, and her reviews are like that. Awesome blog.
3. A Series of Stupidity This is my sisters blog, but that's not the only reason I'm giving her the award. Her blog is pretty funny. Check it out!
4. Layneman's Terms Her blog is about internet safety and other things too. It's good to know. :)

And apparently I don't follow anymore people that has less then 200 followers. I have no one else to give the award to! So we'll just stick with four...

Anyway, I'm going to do my Musing Monday post here too.

Today's musing asks:

What is/are the first book(s) you're reading for the new year?

Well I still have my library books from the last post, and I have only finished a few of them. So I'm still going to be reading those, but I plan on reading "The Way of the Shadows" by Brent Weeks after they are done.

Well that's it! Oh while I'm thinking of it, I decided not to read "Mistress of the Art of Death" because it was too gruesome for me. I didn't want to finish it.

Okay now that's it. Everyone have a good week, and see you Wednesday! <3

New books, and other things too.

Well, I have books now! I'm very happy that I have new stuff to read. I was getting tired of reading and looking at the same books over and over again.
Now I'll give you the list of them but I didn't get a lot. I have a habit of going through my TBR list and just writing down like 10 books I want to get and then I never finish them. That's what happened last time. I refused to get so much books this time. I got about 6 books. Here they are:

"O Jerusalem" by Laurie R. King

I think this is the next book in the Mary Russell series I haven't read in a loooong time. I started like three pages of this book, put it down and haven't came back to it. I'm excited to get back into it because I forgot how much I love this series so far. :D

"Mistress of the Art of Death" by Ariana Franklin

It's a very gruesome name, and the plot is the same, but I'm excited to get into it. I've been wanting to read this for a while; it's just been sitting on my TBR shelf, and finally I got to check it out!

"Maisie Dobbs" by Jacqueline Winspear

At first I didn't remember how I found this book. I sometimes look at the suggestions Goodreads gives you to find new books, and I found this on the suggestions for "A Fatal Waltz" by Tasha Alexander. It looked like a good book, so I added it. This cover that I posted is the paperback cover, but my library has the hard cover. It doesn't look as awesome as this one. ;P

"A Beautiful Blue Death" by Charles Finch

I've been seeing these Charles Lenox mysteries a lot and finally I decided to read the first one. We'll see how I like these books. and they seem pretty good so I'll give them a try.

"The Book of Fires" by Jane Borodale

If you read my last blog, you've seen this book. I was really excited to read it so I'm reading it first before any of them. So far, I like it a lot. :D

"Keturah and Lord Death" by Martine Leavitt

This book was really short (or at least for me.) It's about 216 pages. I read it in one and a half days. The idea was a interesting I thought, and it was surprisingly good book. I enjoyed it!

Anyway, that's all of them. Before I went to the library I was reading "The Dark Road to Darjeeling" by Deanna Raybourn, the next book in Lady Julia Grey mysteries. I'll get back to it once I read all of these new books.
Well, I think that's it. Until next time! <3

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions...

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you'll read next?

What are you currently reading?
I just got a whole bunch of books at the library (I'm gonna do another blog about it later.) but I'm reading "Book of Fires" by Jane Borodale.

What did you recently finish reading?

I recently finished "Silent on the Moor" by Deanna Raybourn.
I HATE the cover of this book. I can promise you, it's not a trashy romance novel. Ugh.... but on the bright side, this book is great. I've read it several times before, and I still love it. :D

What do you think you'll read next?

I think I'll read "Mistress of the Art of Death" by Ariana Franklin next.
This looks like it's gonna be a pretty good mystery book. Can't wait to start it!

Soon I'm gonna do another blog about all the books I got today at the library so you can see but until then, everyone have a good week! <3

Musing Mondays (December 19)

Again, for the second time I forgot to post my Musing Monday's post. I started it, then I decided to do it later and now I'm late on posting it. Well here it is now, with a few updates first. One, I'm going to the library tomorrow so I'll have new books! But that also means I have to make a list... Two, I'm re-reading the whole Lady Julia Grey mysteries because I have nothing better to read. I started reading them three days ago? and I'm on the third one already.... I really forgot how much I love these books. :D Okay, now to the Musing Monday's post.

This week's musing asks...

What's one book you always recommend to just about anyone?

Now, some of you might guess what my answer would be, so I'll give you two books that I usually always recommend.

One, I've recommended these books to like, three people in the past month. And I even mentioned them above. I absolutely love the Lady Julia Grey mysteries and I'm always saying on here that their amazing, which is completely true. I would recommend these to anyone really. I love them!

Okay and the second books I would also recommend are Jane Austen books, especially if you like reading books in that time period. I've always been obsessed with that time period, and for me Jane Austen books are perfect for when you want to lose yourself in Victorian England. :D

Hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions...

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you'll read next?

What are you currently reading?
I'm currently reading "Silent in the Grave" by Deanna Raybourn again.
I know, I'm lame but I can't help it. I really wanted to read it again. hehe

What did you recently finish reading?
I think the last book I finished was "A Dance Through Time" by Lynn Kurland.
The reason I re-read this was because I was in one of those moods for a mind numbing romance that wasn't too deep. Plus this book is one of my favorites.

What do you think you'll read next?
This is always a hard question for me because I usually don't think ahead about anything.  I have no idea what I'm gonna read next. It depends on my mood. As usual. haha
Everyone have a good night! <3
