Update and more personal problems you don't care about.

Well, I'm always doing updates now instead of doing book reviews because of reasons I will tell you now. Well first, like I said in my other blog , that I always read book twice... well all the book reviews I want to do are on books I've already read once and need to read it a second time... so it's better if I go and read it again, and THEN do a book review. So until I work on that, your gonna have to endure this lame and probably boring, blog. So enjoy!

So now it's update time. Right now I'm reading Sense and Sensibility, thanks to my friend who gave me this book, (Thank you friend!) by Jane Austen. You know how much I like Jane Austen cause I'm always, at least, reading one of her books. (They're so light hearted!)
I'm also still listening to Pride and Prejudice,  but I haven't listened to it in a while, so I didn't get very far from when I talked about it in the last blog.

Now, away from the updates for a minute, lets talk about Goodreads . I love this site! So if you want to follow me on Goodreads you can. My name on site is Megan. and my username is Doghorse1223. Here's the link:  http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/2785963-megan  It's set to private but if I want you as a friend I'll accept. : D  Anyways, this site is really cool and if you want to join, you should. It's pretty awesome. You can put the books you've read on your "Read' shelf, and books you want to read but haven't got the chance, on the "To read" shelf. There is virtually ever book you can think of on this site. It's pretty epic.

I'm trying to think of other updates but I can't really think of any...... Hold on.......... Oh yeah!!!!! Ok,  for you people who are wondering, "What happened to Name Of The Wind?" well here the update on that: I finished it in three days, (Which is a record!!!!) and it was just as good as the first time! I love this book.....

It's been soooooo hot where I live. It's crazy! It's like 90 outside.... Good thing I live near a creek! : D
Anyways I think that ends this blog. I hope I didn't bore you too much, and when I read any book a second time, I'll do a review on it, I promise. See you guys later, and remember keep reading! :-)

Book Review: The Omnivore's Dilemma for Kids.

I give this book:  5 stars!

Heres what it says on the back of the book:

"The New York Times bestseller that's changing America's diet is now perfect for young readers. “What’s for dinner?” seemed like a simple question—until journalist and supermarket detective Michael Pollan delved behind the scenes. From fast food and big organic to small farms and old-fashioned hunting and gathering, this young readers’ adaptation of Pollan’s famous food-chain exploration encourages kids to consider the personal and global health implications of their food choices.
In a smart, compelling format with updated facts, plenty of photos, graphs, and visuals, as well as a new afterword and backmatter, The Omnivore’s Dilemma serves up a bold message to the generation that needs it most: It’s time to take charge of our national eating habits—and it starts with you."

 My review:

I know your thinking: Why don't you read the real version instead of the kids version?
Well first, have you seen the real version? haha it's pretty big. This is not the kind of book you read for fun. If you want to know where your food comes from, then you read this to get more information. This book is for kids, so he (Michael Pollan) breaks in down so they can understand better. For me, this book really made me think. It kinda opens your eyes. But I'll tell you something right now. You NEVER going to want to go back to McDonalds again. This book is very much like the movie "Food Inc."  It tells you were your food comes from, how it's made in the factory's, and how the animals are treated.  He goes and trys three types of dinners: The fast food dinner, where he goes and gets McDonalds, the big organic dinner which is the stuff that, when you go to the store, that says that it's "Orgainic", and the real organic dinner, where he hunts and finds his own food. He figures out what is the best meal and whats better for you. I liked this book a lot. It really helped me open my eyes and see what fast food is really like. He also goes into being a Vegetarian and see if that is the better way to be healthy. I highly recommend this book to people who don't really know where there food comes from or who are interested in what happens behind the scenes, in fast food joints. But I will warn you now, this book is not a book to read for fun. I probably won't read it again but that doesn't mean it wasn't good it just means that it's just not the kind of book you read again. It's more like a reference book. I really liked this book and I think if you read it, you will too.

Update!!!!! WOO

Wellllllllll. I have an update on what I'm reading but it's not that great. It's just that I have finished Dance Through Time  and I'm now still working on The Name of The Wind because obviously, it's 600 pages long! and it's got pretty small words. Not like Breaking Dawn where it had 600 pages but that words were big..... and why am I talking about Twilight???? Ok lets get off this subject as soon as possible. soooooooo....... wonderful weather were having! Also I'm still listening to Pride and Prejudice... just in case you were wondering. : P

I've been sooooooo busy this week my brain is about to explode!!!! and I still have a weekend of partying to do! -sigh- Next week, I'm not doing ANYthing. Well, I have to work but other than that, I'm not doing anything. OH and go see Pirates of the Caribbean on the...... Wait, what's the date it comes out? Hmmmmm. I'll Google it. Be right back............................ Oh. It's it just came out today.... I didn't know that. We'll have to see it soon then. Anyways, this blog isn't really turning out to be a "update" but more like my problems... -shrugs- oh well. You can deal with it. : D

Ok I'm just now starting to get used this whole Blogger thing. Like how I can put pictures on my blogs!!! Look here's me!

Wow. That's a pretty big picture of me....
Anyways, I can put links on my blog, and I can put a video on here too! It's really cool.

Well, I think on that note I should stop and go do something with myself, besides read. You know sometimes, you have to take a break from the reading world once and a while and start talking about your life and problems that people don't even care about. But still, the whole theme of this blog is to get people to read so as I leave I will tell you this: Keep reading! It's good for ya! : D

Books I'm reading now

See, I'm not one of those people who reads a book only once and doesn't read it again. For some reason I always read them at least twice. It depends on how I like the book, and how interested I am in the story. So all the books I'm reading now are ones I have already read before. So here's the list of them:

1. A Dance Through Time by Lynn Kurland.

2. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

and 3. Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

You should really check out these books. There really good!

Well the first one I haven't read in a while... It's a nice light book so if I feel like reading something that won't bog me down I pick this kind of book. It's very romantic, and it's about a woman falling asleep on a park bench in New York and waking up in medieval Scotland. I love these kinds of books....

The second one I'm not really reading. I'm listening to this book being read in a audio book I found online and downloaded from this really cool site that has some free audio books you can download. People volunteer to read books for this site. I think most people know what Jane Austen books are about so I'm not going to explain it. It's a timeless classic!  : P

And the third one is such a good book I had to read it again!  I have a tendency to read books really fast and don't take time to read them.  I read it a second time to, not only refresh my memory, but to make sure I don't miss important stuff. This book is kinda hard to explain so I'll just type what it says on the back cover:

"So begins a tale unequaled in fantasy literature- the story of a hero told in his own voice. It is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend."

Anyways, I'm dying to go to my library! I want new books to read... I guess I'm just gonna have to wait. -sigh-
Well, I just got back from a nice vacation and it got me out of the house and now I'm glad to be back. and since I really have nothing to do, I'll just read!  : D  haha  ok goodbye all, and happy reading!

Well......

Well is right. I don't have ANYTHING to book review about, so I'm just going to talk about random things because.........................well, I don't know why.  Just because ok???? Anyways, I have no books to read. I HATE when I reach this point...... I have to wait now to go to the library to get books. There is actually a couple of books I want to get. Should I make a list? Yes. Lets do that.

1: I want to get some Jane Austen books that I don't have on my bookshelf.
2: I want to look at the young adult section and see if there's any books that catch my interest.
3: I also want to get more of Gerald Morris books, which are based in the Middle Ages during the time of King Arthur.
4: I want to try to find a book called "The Iron King" which is another fairy book but looks really cool.
5: I want to try to read Linger, the second book in the Shiver series by Maggie Stiefvater.
6: There is some books I like to read  by Lynn Kurland that might be at my library.
7: I Am Number Four looks like a cool book, and the movie was good, so I want to find this book too.

There ya go. The point is, I want to find a lot of books at my library and I can't go because we never have a car at the house. My Dad uses it to go to work with. So now I have to wait for the weekend.... great.  I've just not had a good day today, and that probably shows in my blog. But I'm usually upset when I don' t have a book to read. That's just the way I roll.

I cannot wait for vacation! I NEED to get out of this house. I hope I have a book at the beach, otherwise I will go mad..... and nobody wants to see that.

Ok I'm gonna go. This is probably the most boring, short blog I've ever done but I can't really help that... I'm just not feeling it today.

Another blog of me blabbing...

When I have nothing to read, I always go back to Jane Austen books... Now that I've ran out of books, I'm reading Emma now. Actually I have two books on my night stand right now. One is Beautiful Darkness, Which as I've already told you in previous blogs, I don't really want to read. Why? Well, your going to have to read my blog on it! Anyway, the other book I have is The Eye Of The World by Robert Jordan. I think I've heard of this author before but I don't remember where. I think this guy is pretty popular... I got this book from my best friend's brother who said that it was good. He told me that all the books in the series are really long. The first book that I have is about 657 pages long and the second one has a lot more than that... It has to be a really interesting book for me to read that many pages... I'm only on chapter one, and so far it's not my taste. Oh well, we'll see. I'll give it a chance.

I had this plan. I was going to read all of Juliet Marillier's books, even the adult ones, (she only wrote two young adult ones) and see if they were as good as my Mom told me they were. The result? They were all amazing! I loved every one of them. She's one of the best writers out there that I have found. Obviously, I'm too young to read a lot of books. I realized I had a love for reading, about two years ago. So I haven't had much time to read a lot of books. I wish I didn't have to do anything but just read but that can't happen. I have a lot of stuff going on in the week. I'm only 15 so I still have chores and stuff do and I still have to do school. (I'm homeschooled) So, as you can see, I don't have much time for reading. But when I do read, it's my escape from the world. I have friends so there's always some sort of drama, and it's also worse because I'm a teenager. Ok, I'm going to stop talking about my life because I'm pretty sure you don't care, so I'll keep talking about what this blog was originally for.

Juliet Marillier is really good. Even my Mom, who has read a lot of books, says she's amazing. So, I took her word for it and read them. I just finished the last one of what she has wrote. She's writing more but there not published yet. When they are published, I'm going to read them.

Back on the subject of Jane Austen, my favorite of her's is Emma, and that's the one I'm reading now. A while back, I wanted to read all of Jane Austen's books, so I went to the library and got all of them and read them. But after I was done with each one, I watched the movie that goes to it. My favorite movie and book was Emma. I only have Pride and Prejudice, Northhanger Abby, and Emma. I want to get the others so that I have all of them but until I get a job, I won't have any money for that. Ok, I'm going to stop wasting your time and go read, like usual. Bye everyone, and keep reading! It's good for you. : )

Book review: The Wise Man's Fear

Ok so I just got finished with The Wise Man's Fear and I would give it  5 stars! This book was pretty amazing. It had really good writing (of course) because if you've read The Name Of The Wind, which was also great, you obviously know that Patrick Rothfuss is a great writer. Very good plot line. See, originally this series was all one big book but of course you can't publish that... it's just too long, so it kinda leaves you hanging at the end of both books. But that's not a major problem! We just have to wait another thousand years for the third one to come out... This book was like the middle of the big book he originally wrote. It basically gave you nice back story to when the real action starts happening... or that's how I see it. In this book, he go's to a lot of places because the University is kinda kicking him out for a while because there's all sorts of rumors about him, and the the University is getting nervous about it's reputation. So to let the rumors cool down, he goes on all sorts of adventures. He leaves, and go's to one place, then from that place he go's on mission for that person, and on that mission he go's somewhere else, and from that place he go's somewhere ELSE... and so on and so forth. I'm not gonna tell you where he go's because you need to find that out for yourself. ;) So this book is basically just the middle of the huge book that he wrote.  I liked all the characters too. They were all likeable. There was not one that I didn't like or care about... I wanted to find out more. The care factor was really high. It was almost like I was in another world when I was reading it....
Yes, it is VERY long but I was ok with it... I love long books. When I care, I just want to know more and more and when it ends I get upset, so this book helped that. Since Name Of The Wind left you hanging,  I wasn't surprised when this one did too. But there is a lot of questions still left, that need to be answered so I hope that the third one will answer at lest some questions.  So, to sum up this book: It was a big page turner, good plot line, great writing, interesting characters, and long. (which was a plus for me.) I would definitely recommend this book to friends!
And just a side note, you can't read this book without reading The Name Of The Wind first. So don't be lazy! Read both books. It's worth your time.
