I'm back!

This my first blog in two in a half weeks, and now I'm back!
I had a nice break from reading and now I'm ready to start back up again. I found this site, and it's called Thriftbooks. (Here's the link.) It's a great site. You can get used books for a lot less than what you would get at a bookstore. It's got new books, classics, romance, any type of book for 4 bucks and free shipping. It's amazing! I got three books for 11 bucks. That's how much you would pay for a brand new book at a bookstore. Me personally, I don't mind used books. As long as I can read them I'll be ok. I know that sometimes people like brand new books and in hardback, and I like that too, but it usually can get expensive. So this is a good site for used books at a cheap price.
I got my books in today, that I ordered. I got "The Phantom Of The Opera", "Lady of the Glen", and "Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Collection of Stores Part I". I'm excited to get reading! I haven't got my Sherlock Holmes book in yet but it's supposed to be in soon. Hmm what else can I tell you about? There's not a lot going on, and I don't have a lot of time for reading, but I'll make do. I like not having books to take back to the library.
Anyway, I'm gonna get to reading my books. I'll update you on anything that happens book wise. :)

I'm posting this, just to post.

I have absolutely nothing to update you on book wise. I haven't been reading or had the inclination to read which is unlike me... I love reading, don't get me wrong. I guess I just don't have to time for it anymore with school and being social. I wish I could read the rest of my library books in five days, but I don't think I can. I'd have to read non-stop and I can't.  Plus I need to get out of the house and DO something with myself. Maybe that's why I'm not reading... I feel the need to do something productive for a while. I think this would be a good time to take a break and not have books looming, waiting for me to read them. I think I'll try to read what I can, and take them all back. I can right down the page numbers and check them out again later. Which I think is a good idea.
ANYways, enough with my problems. I have been reading I little bit, because I finished "A Fatal Waltz" by Tasha Alexander. And I'm about 120 pages into "Lion In The Valley" by Elizabeth Peters. Oh! I forgot. I think I have come to a decision regarding "Touchstone"  by Laurie R. King. I don't think I'm gonna keep reading it. I like it, so it's not that it's not interesting. I just think it's too grown up for me right now. I think once I get older I'll appreciate it more, but for right now, I don't care enough. I want to care but I don't.
So, I think that's it.  I might post sometimes but not all the time cause I'm not gonna be reading much. When I finish a book I'll tell you about it or do a review on it but for right now, I need time away from books.

Book review: "A Fatal Waltz" by Tasha Alexander

So I finished "A Fatal Waltz" last night. I gave it 4 stars! This gives me a chance to vent, but not in my sisters ear. She never really listens.
Here's what it says on the back cover:

At her friend Ivy's behest, Lady Emily Ashton reluctantly agrees to attend a party at the sprawling English country estate of a man she finds odious. But the despised Lord Fortescue is not to be her greatest problem. Kristiana von Lange, an Austrian countess once linked romantically with Emily's fiance, the debonair Colin Hargreaves, is a guest also. And a tedious evening turns deadly when their host is found murdered, and his protÉgÉ, Robert Brandon—Ivy's husband—is arrested for the crime.
Determined to right a terrible wrong, Emily embarks on a quest that will lead her from London's glittering ballrooms to Vienna's sordid backstreets—and into a game of wits with a notorious anarchist. But putting Colin in deadly peril may be the price for exonerating Robert—forcing the intrepid Emily to bargain with her nemesis, the Countess von Lange, for the life of her fiance."

Ok I have mixed feelings about this book. It was good suspense wise at some parts. Not all the time, but only sometimes. Sometimes I felt that it was a little too fast paced. There was three important events in one paragraph..... Just overall, it felt rushed.  Then there's the problem of Emily. At some parts, she annoys the heck out of me, but then sometimes I like her... She has quality's that I personally think are not great. But I was able to get past that. The end was very good and suspenseful. I like the romance aspect of it. Very cute. :')  The last few pages are very touching, and quite a good way to end the book. Overall, there was some things I didn't like and some things that I felt were really good. I think I'll read the rest of the series. This book gets a solid 4 stars from me.

P.S. I know it's a short review but that's really all I have to say about the book... haha
I'll be doing more reviews shortly! :D

WWW Wednesday (September 7)

Hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading
Here's my new WWW Wednesday post!

To play along just answer the following three (3) questions...
• What are you currently reading?

• What did you recently finish reading?

• What do you think you'll read next?

What are you currently reading?
I'm currently reading a lot of books, but the main book is "A Fatal Waltz" by Tasha Alexander.
I don't know why I keep reading these books since I don't really care for the heroine. She annoys me at some points and I like her in others. It's really weird. Sometimes this book is just too fast paced, it's hard to keep up. But I'll keep reading it... for some reason.

What did you recently finish reading?
haha The funny thing is, I don't remember.... It's been a while since I've actually finished one. I've been really busy last week and this week. I don't have as much time to read anymore.  Plus, I'm homeschooled and we just started that. I'm gonna try to keep going and read as much as I can but I haven't had the time to read a book all the way through yet.

What do you think you'll read next?

Probably read my library books that I re-checked out. Those I need to finish.
But just to name one, I think I'll end up reading "Lion In The Valley" by Elizabeth Peters. I've read a few pages, and so far it's really good, and funny. I'm liking this series more as I read it.

Anyway, I hope you liked my post. Happy reading! :D

Books, painting, and other things you probably don't care about.

I think this is the first blog, that I'm not talking about books... I think. Except for that one a long time ago... but whatever.
Like a dumb head, I went on the Goodreads to find more books which I obviously don't need. I don't know why, I just started looking. And of course, I find a whole bunch of books. It was a bad idea to begin with. So Now instead of 96 books like the last time, I have 100 on my TBR shelf.
I went to the library recently, and got books, which I wrote about (Well.... not wrote. Technically I typed.) and I've barely even started reading them... I don't know why but recently I haven't been reading much. I think it has to do with the fact that we're redoing our room. Let me explain.
Well, me and my sister share a room because our house is small. We also have an extra sister too. It was still the same from when we were little. It was light blue, with clouds. Yesterday and today, we painted the walls a light purple gray color. It's really pretty. What my Mom did was she sketched a tree with pencil on the wall, and then painted over it. It looks really cool. It looks better than something you would get from a stencil.
Anyway, it's long over due that we paint it. So now it looks really cool and grown up. Not some little girls room with me (15) and my sister (13) living in it.

So I think that's it for the personal stuff. Now I have a request for all of you who have a book blog. I really want to know if you have any book suggestions for me based on what I've been reading. I'm trying to look for new books despite my towering TBR shelf. It's really hard to find a book, that is really good these days. Or I have found that it is... I like a lot of stuff. I'm just not a big fan of Young Adult books. I don't know why, but they don't appeal to me as much as other books do. I follow a lot of people that read mainly YA books, but I want to find other books that are really good and will keep my attention. So, if you have any suggestions, please let me know, and I'll check them out. :-)

Anyway, I think that's it. Happy reading!

New books and other updates.

Since I wasn't reading as much this past week, I had to take the remainder of my library books back and re-check them out. I also took my long library list and went and got the important books, that I wanted to read first. I really, really, really wanted to get "The Hunger Games" but my library didn't have it, because it was checked out... Apparently it's a popular book. So I got other ones that I wanted to read first. I have till the 17th to read them and I have a total of 9 to read, and that includes the three I had to re-check out. I think I'm gonna spend more time reading and less time on the computer... Ok so here's the list of new books I got at the library:

  • "I Am Number Four" by Pittacus Lore (Which, by the way, is not a real author.)
  • "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte
  • "Lion In The Valley" by Elizabeth Peters
  • "Cloaked" by Alex Flinn (Which I didn't have on my Library List. I didn't mean to get it but I saw it and got it. It was on my TBR shelf anyway.)
  • "A Fatal Waltz" by Tasha Alexander
  • and last, but not least, "The Phantom Of The Opera" by Gaston Leroux
So that's it. These are the new books I got, but I re-checked out "The Outlaws Of Sherwood" by Robin McKinley,  "Touchstone" by Laurie R. King, and "The Birth Of Venus" by Sarah Dunant.

Anyway, I'm excited and can't wait to get reading. So I'm gonna go to do that right now, and leave you. I hope that these books will be good, and that I'll have enough time to finish them all. Happy reading! :)
